HEADLINERS AT NATPE                  

The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) has selected Tony Vinciquerra, Chairman and CEO, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and host of Hearst Television’s acclaimed political magazine show “Matter of Fact,” Soledad O’Brien, to headline NATPE Miami with a keynote conversation on Wednesday, January 17, it was announced by JP Bommel, President and CEO of NATPE. The focus of the conversation will be in keeping with NATPE's overall theme for the conference—A Changing Industry in a Changing World. The annual marketplace and conference will take place from January 16-18, 2018 at the Fontainebleau and Eden Roc Miami Beach Resorts.

Red Arrow Entertainment Group has acquired a majority stake in global distribution company Gravitas Ventures. Based in the US, Gravitas is one of the largest all-rights film distributors in the world, with a particular focus on independently produced films and documentaries for global digital, SVOD and OTT platforms. Gravitas also distributes to theaters and brick and mortar retailers. Gravitas releases more than 400 new films annually and has a library of more than 2,400 English-speaking titles. Since its launch in 2006, Gravitas has been one of the first companies to develop a global network of digital media partners and now has over 200 relationships with many of the key providers of transactional video on demand, subscription video on demand, electronic sell through, television broadcasting, and physical home media.

D3 Telefilm is a leading international distributor of screen entertainment in all genres. ZDF Enterprises has assumed global distribution of the Franco-German crime thriller series “The Crimson Rivers,” co-produced by ZDF and France 2, along with France’s EuropaCorp Television and Germany’s Maze Pictures. Filming is currently taking place in Belgium. Starring Olivier Marchal, Erika Sainte, Ken Duken and Nora Waldstätten, the first episode of the series, entitled “The Final Chase” (“Die letzte Jagd”), will be directed by Ivan Fegyveres. Each of the episodes remains true to the original screenplay by cult writer Jean-Christophe Grangé. Inspector Niémans (Olivier Marchal) and his colleague Camille Delauney (Erika Sainte) are investigating four separate cases which lead them to various French provinces as well as Germany. Each case entails a murder mystery which demands the involvement of the Parisian specialists (8 x 45’ or 4 x 100’).

Expert craftsman Charlie Norman rebuilds the American dream one log cabin at a time on Great American Country’s new series “Log Cabin Fever,” premiering November 21. Throughout the six-episode run, series follows Charlie and his crew of skilled tradesman as they carefully deconstruct antique log cabins and barns and then use the salvaged beams to build new homes in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.   In the premiere episode, Charlie and his team are tasked with building a single-room cabin with a spectacular view of the North Carolina highlands. After gathering chestnut beams from a historic cabin dating back to the times of Daniel Boone, the men struggle to transport the materials to the build site on the treacherous mountainside roads and battle unpredictable weather in order to construct this dream mountain retreat (6 x 30’).

Produced for Digital Television Russia by the Parovoz Animation Studio, “Heroes of Envell was created by Anton Lanshakov and Evgeny Golovin for eight- to 14-year-olds. Animated series is set in a junior high school, where four promising pupils (Art, Phil, Vik and Kira) find a laptop containing a mysterious game. The laptop turns out to be a portal to the game world with real adventures and dangers. This world has been usurped by four-handed evil genius Morgarth, who dreams of getting to Earth and gaining control over the population (26 x 11’).

In the new adventures of “Lassie,” the beloved collie comes to life in an animated TV series that is adventurous, humorous and a whole lot of fun. As part of the long-running POV documentary series, PBS will debut “Almost Sunrise,” on November 13th, in honor of Veteran’s Day. Film follows two veterans' incredible journey on foot across the country, as a testament to our soldiers' sacrifices and the moral injury they carry from war. Iraq veterans Tom Voss and Anthony Anderson, haunted by combat experiences, decided to distance themselves from their demons by taking a 2,700 mile walk from Milwaukee to Santa Barbara, seeking redemption, acceptance and a way to close the deep moral chasm opened by wartime experiences (60’).
